In 2006 ResiliEnt Business Solutions responded to an RFP issued by the city requesting assistance in completing a conversion of its data systems from a Mainframe RAMIS environment to a UNIX WebFOCUS environment. The city needed a partner with expertise in WebFOCUS, Maintain, MODIFY and report writing on an IBM AIX platform. ResiliEnt started the engagement by first assessing the existing environment, including hardware, software and human resources. The resulting document provided the director with a road map to not only complete the conversion, but to lead RIM towards a much higher degree of self-sufficiency.
- ResiliEnt’s BI Assessment provided Research and Information Management (RIM) with a clearly defined road map to move towards a scalable, yet stable, feature rich BI platform.
- ResiliEnt provided consultants with specialty skills around WebFOCUS including Maintain, MODIFY, and Systems Engineering and Server Administration.
- ResiliEnt delivered mentoring and classes customized to the RIM resources
Over the years ResiliEnt has worked with RIM on several mentoring and training activities including the creation and delivery of a customized WebFOCUS Maintain class and the establishment of WebFOCUS “playground” servers for practical mentoring on WebFOCUS Server administration and configuration tasks. ResiliEnt has also mentored RIM personnel on Project Management Best Practices to include activities like creation of project artifacts including functional requirement and technical specification templates; creation of a change management policy and the supporting documentation.
When the AIX server started experiencing hardware failures ResiliEnt worked with RIM to size and acquire new hardware and software. WebFOCUS applications and FOCUS files on the AIX server were migrated to the new Microsoft Windows server and Microsoft SQL Server environment. ResiliEnt continues to provide mentoring and support around all the Information Builders tools and around the Microsoft products in this new environment.
